Our Vision

WE EXIST FOR THE PLANTING OF HIGHLY CONTEXTUALIZED, GOSPEL-CENTERED CHURCHES IN THE CITIES OF AFRICA.

City to City Africa seeks to serve a world-changing, city-renewing, gospel-centered global church and to complement the work being done through existing networks in Africa.

City to City Africa focuses on leadership development, church planting and content development.

Africa's population is growing rapidly, inspiring City to City Africa to assist Christian leaders with the planting of new churches and networks in the key cities of Africa.

Ministry leaders and church planters from major cities across the continent have come together to form City to City Africa.

GROWING THE MOVEMENT

City to City Africa is birthed from Redeemer City to City in New York and has been steadily growing to serve the cities in Africa by raising local leaders. We help recruit, train and coach national church planters from a variety of denominational backgrounds from major cities across the continent such as Dakar, Abidjan, Accra, Lagos, Kinshasa, Addis Ababa, Nairobi, Kampala, Kigali , Johannesburg, and more. We are now seeing these networks multiply churches, become self-sustaining and advance the Gospel in their cities.

City to City was co-founded and is chaired by Tim Keller. After transitioning out of his position as senior pastor at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, Tim Keller moved into a full-time role with City to City, focusing on ministry in global cities like Johannesburg, Mumbai, London, São Paulo and New York City. He and City to City’s global leaders work together to invest in and pass along what they have learned to a new generation of ministry leaders. Through these endeavors, City to City helps build for and propel movements of the Gospel in affiliate networks around the globe.

OUR values

GOSPEL

We believe that the biblical gospel of grace is essential to the salvation and transformation of people and cultures. An ongoing experience of the Gospel is the driving force in all of life, work, and ministry.

URBAN

We are committed to the city because God is committed to the city. Cities are strategic places for Gospel ministry and should receive missional priority at this point in history.

CONTEXTUAL

We are committed to pastoring and planting contextualised, urban churches that multiply.

HOLISTIC

We believe that the Bible compels churches both to proclaim the Gospel in word and to live out the Gospel in deed: seeking justice, loving mercy and promoting truth and righteousness.

INDIGENOUS

We aim to be a network that raises up church planters indigenous to various urban cultures, able to understand their setting, and effectively to apply the gospel to it.
